Lakeland, Florida, has many residents, especially the elderly and the disabled, living on a low, fixed income. Because of their financial limitations, these community members must make difficult decisions regarding how best to manage their money, and one decision they are frequently obliged to make is to forego the routine maintenance including the painting of their homes. Thus these homeowners, once proud of their investments, often must watch their pride of ownership fade and flake away as their homes age and lose their luster.
Paint Your Heart Out Lakeland, Inc. (PYHOL), seeks to help our fellow community members by restoring some of that weathered pride of ownership. We offer these folks, who must meet our strict income requirements and who must own and live in their houses, the opportunity to have the exterior of their homes repainted by teams of volunteers. Providing this neighborly service not only helps these homeowners recover their personal pride and dignity, but also brightens up the neighborhood and community as a whole.
PYHOL is a 100% volunteer organization; with no one on any payroll, we are able to commit all our resources to serving the community.

- December 31, 2007 - Homeowner applications due
- March 4, 2008, 6:30 p.m. (location to be announced) - Team leader orientation dinner
(leaders will receive house assignment)
- March 8, 2008 - Prep day (as needed)
- March 14, 2008, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. - Team representative(s) pick up supplies from
Bryant Stadium
- March 15, 2008 - Paint Day
